How to REVIVE your health foundations

The wellness world loves the top of the pyramid. The fancy supplement, the functional test, the biohack someone swears changed their life. And some of those things genuinely have their place.

But when someone comes to see me, I'm almost always looking at the bottom of the pyramid first. If the foundations aren't there, nothing on top holds up for long.

The foundations I look at with every client

1. Eating enough, and eating well. Not perfectly. Enough. Regular meals with protein, fibre, healthy fats and plenty of colour. Under-eating is one of the most common things I see, and it quietly undermines hormones, energy, skin and mood.

2. Sleep and daily rhythm. Seven to nine hours, a consistent wake time, morning light, and a wind-down at night. Sleep is when your body repairs, balances hormones and consolidates everything else you're doing.

3. Movement. A mix of strength, cardio and gentle movement you actually enjoy. Muscle protects your metabolism, bones and blood sugar. Walking is underrated.

4. Your nervous system. How safe and calm your body feels day to day. Chronic stress affects digestion, cycles, skin, sleep and appetite. You can't out-supplement a body that never gets to rest.

5. Your gut. Digestion, regular bowel movements and a diverse microbiome. Your gut absorbs your nutrients, clears your hormones and talks to your brain and skin.

6. Connection, joy and purpose. Friends, laughter, sunshine, time outdoors and something that matters to you. These aren't extras. They're some of the strongest predictors of long-term health we have.

How the foundations connect to everything else

At Revive, I work across six main pillars: skin, gut, hormones, energy, sleep and sport performance. Every one of them sits on these foundations.

  • Breakouts that won't settle often trace back to blood sugar, gut health and stress

  • Low energy is frequently under-eating, low iron and poor sleep stacked together

  • Irregular cycles can be a sign your body doesn't feel it has enough fuel or rest

When we strengthen the foundations, the symptoms on top often start shifting on their own.

Where to start this week

  • Eat breakfast with protein

  • Get outside in the morning

  • Move your body in a way you enjoy

  • Add one more plant to each meal

  • Put your phone away 30 minutes before bed

  • Call a friend

The takeaway

Health isn't built on hacks. It's built on the boring basics done consistently. Get those right, and everything else you do works better.
